Almost as soon as you start your career with Legal Aid Queensland you will get a file load and deal directly with clients. This is closely supervised, and our information sessions provided by senior lawyers will make sure all work is of the highest possible standard. You will be going to court, implementing legal strategy and working with a diverse group of clients.
Our graduate program differs from those offered by many law firms and has a once-yearly intake of about 10 law graduate recruits. If accepted into the program you have the flexibility to nominate when you would like to begin the program, after consultation with our graduate team coordinator.
You will start your career working in our law graduate teams in our Criminal or Family Law Practice — teams that have been established to train and develop lawyers. But you won’t be dropped in the deep end — you’ll receive extensive guidance and support from senior lawyers who will oversee your work and your progress as a legal professional.
