The Australian Financial Complaints Authority or ‘AFCA’ is an external dispute resolution (EDR) scheme to deal with complaints from consumers in the financial system.  AFCA replaces the three existing EDR schemes of the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS), the Credit and Investments Ombudsman (CIO) and Superannuation Complaints Tribunal (SCT) so that consumers have access to a single EDR scheme. The scheme is free to consumers.

Please note:
For a period of 12 months starting 1 July 2019, the Australian Financial Complaints Authority’s (AFCA) jurisdiction will be expanded to allow them to consider previously unheard disputes falling within its terms of reference relating to conduct dating back to 1 January 2008.
