Paternity

A guide to disputing paternity for Liable Parents. Use this kit if you come under Stage 2 of the Child Support Scheme, that means:

  • you and the child's mother separated on or after 1 October 1989; or
you and the mother have at least one child born on or after 1 October 1989
  • the mother has asked you to pay child support, probably through the Child Support Agency
  • the mother has named you as the father of a child or you have admitted that you are the father but now believe that you may not be the father
  • you want to know how to make an application to court for orders for parentage testing and a declaration that you are not the father of a child
