Info for firms

The Regional Solicitor Program is a joint initiative of Legal Aid Queensland and participating private law firms.

The program is open to law graduates who have completed or are about to start a professional legal education and training course that satisfies the practical training requirements for admission as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland.

The program offers recent legal practice graduates the opportunity to work as a solicitor in a regional law firm under a two year agreement.

Legal Aid Queensland will pay for graduates' practical legal training course fees and 75 percent of their salary. The other 25 percent will be met by the placement regional law firm.

As the breakdown of salary payment highlights, the primary focus for graduates will be the firm's legal aid casework.

Graduates and placement firms will enter into a two year employment contract. After two years it is up to each placement firm whether they continue employment.
