Solicitors' Referral Service - 07 3842 5842

For callers who want the name of a solicitor practising in a particular area of law (eg family law, personal injuries) or geographical area, the operator will give the name of three solicitors.

Eligibility

Not restricted - but this does not refer callers to a discounted service. The Queensland Law Society cannot advise about costs. A person should enquire with the solicitor as to the cost as some solicitors do not charge for the first consultation whilst others charge a fixed fee for the first appointment.

Hours

The referral service operates Monday to Friday from 9 am to 12 noon and from 2 pm to 4.30 pm.

Client Relations Centre - 07 3842 5838

A person who has concerns about dealings with a solicitor can contact the Queensland Law Society's Client Relations Centre.

Services offered by the centre, all of which are free to the public, range from informal resolution of concerns by phone, to mediation between solicitor and client. The centre cannot give legal advice.

The Client Relations Centre operates Monday to Friday from 8.30 am to 5 pm.

For callers wanting basic written information on more common areas of law (eg making a Will, Powers of Attorney, estate planning, franchising, buying and selling a house, etc.)

The operator will take the caller's name and address and post the relevant brochure(s).
