Legal Aid Queensland

If you have legal problems but cannot afford to pay for legal advice or representation, Legal Aid Queensland may be able to help. Solicitors, social workers and other trained professionals work together to provide services in family, criminal, civil and general law matters. Legal advice through videoconferencing is free but other services are means tested.

Rural Women's Outreach Legal Service

The Rural Women's Outreach Service is located in the Toowoomba Community Legal Service. This service aims to give legal advice to women in south west Queensland through videoconferencing and various regional clinics.

Woodford Correctional Centre family visits

The Woodford Correctional Centre has agreed to allow family visits with inmates of the facility via videoconferencing.

  • Appointments of 30 minutes duration will be available 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm every Friday.
  • Appointments must be booked 72 hours in advance by calling (07) 5422 5202.
  • Appointments are to be made by site coordinators only.

Women's Correctional Centre family visits

The Women's Correctional Centre has agreed to allow family visits with inmates of the facility via videoconferencing.

  • Appointments of 30 minutes duration will be available 1 pm to 4 pm every Thursday.
  • Appointments can be booked up to the Wednesday before by calling the visitors centre on (07) 3271 8907 (please note the visitors centre is closed on Monday and Tuesday but open on weekends).

To make a booking you will need to supply the name, birth date and relationship to prisoner of the visitor.

Women's Legal Aid

Women's Legal Aid represents, advises and educates women on legal matters. The unit is part of Legal Aid Queensland and liaises with community organisations and promotes policy development throughout the state. Women's Legal Aid operates from Legal Aid Queensland's Brisbane office on 1300 65 11 88.
