There are graduate paralegal/lawyer positions available across our Brisbane and regional offices. Please indicate your location preference when you apply. These roles will be filled by applicants who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander to support employment opportunities and help increase the representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Legal Aid Queensland workforce.
The Law Graduate Program is open to graduates who have graduated with a law degree, or will graduate by 31 December 2018, and have not previously been employed as a lawyer.

Legal Aid Queensland's graduate paralegals/lawyers are mentored by senior lawyers and work in a supportive environment so they can take charge of a file load, deal directly with clients and appear in court on their behalf. The only photocopying you will be doing is for the benefit of your own cases!

We're offering successful applicants a 2-year temporary contract with Legal Aid Queensland. Opportunities may arise to secure a permanent position with the organisation, however there is no guarantee of a job at the end of the contract.
In year 1, all graduate paralegals/lawyers will spend 6 months in a criminal law placement and 6 months in a family and civil law placement. In year 2, graduates will have the opportunity to develop more specialised skills through a 12-month program focusing on developing the skills needed for successful practice in a specific area of law.
