Wednesday 1 September is the start of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA) as the new Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia Act 2021 (FCFCOA Act) takes effect. With the start of the new Court, there is a change in website to www.fcfcoa.gov.au. We encourage you to visit the website for more information. The Court has published 3 helpful and informative videos for parties “You can separate smarter”, “What to expect when attending a court hearing” and “A new Court structure”. The videos are available on the Court’s homepage.
The new Court aims to provide a modern, transparent and more efficient system of justice aimed at helping parties through the process as safely, quickly and fairly as possible without undue cost and delay. The Court will continue to embrace innovation and technology to operate on a truly national basis. In particular, the Court aim’s to change the culture and conversation around family law litigation. The court’s aim over time is to resolve more than 90% of family law matters within 12 months to reduce the time, cost and stress associated with litigation.
