Victim Assist Queensland is the new scheme for victims of crime in Queensland that commenced on 1 December 2009. Victims can receive financial assistance, information on the scheme and how to apply, as well as referral to support services to assist their recovery from an act of violent crime.

Victim Assist Queensland provides a phone service during business hours and a website for victims of crime to access 24 hours a day.

Victim Assist Queensland will be the new central point of contact for victims and families, providing:

  • information and guidance on how to apply for financial assistance under Victim Assist Queensland
  • information and referral to existing support services to meet the needs of each individual victim of crime such as counseling and support to victims in court
  • a 1300 number to call
  • an easy to navigate website with important information for victims of crime.
