DVConnect is a not-for-profit organisation providing three telephone crisis helplines for Queenslanders experiencing domestic and family abuse, and/or sexual assault. The telephone crisis lines are:
DVConnect Womensline is the only statewide telephone service offering women who are experiencing domestic or family violence help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- provides free, professional telephone support to Queenslanders.
- can arrange practical assistance such as crisis counselling and intervention as well as transport and emergency accommodation for women and children who are in danger from a violent partner or family member
- takes around 8000 calls every month from Queensland women who are in fear of, or are in immediate threat of danger from, domestic or family violence.
- assists over 600 women and more than 500 children to safety every month.
Calls to the Womensline number 1800 811 811 are free from any public phone.
DVConnect works directly with the RSPCA Queensland on the Pets In Crisis Program to care for the pets of families experiencing domestic violence. The Pets in Crisis program is administered by calling DVConnect on 1800 811 811.
