Free legal advice, assistance and referral to the LGBTI communities.
The LGBTI Legal Service holds advice sessions every Wednesday from 6pm.
Clients arriving after 7.30pm will not be accepted. No appointment required.
The service can arrange telephone advice where needed.
Clients can contact the service before attending to ensure that a solicitor who can assist with their matter will be available.
The service can provide advice in relation to:
- Family law, including domestic violence, surrogacy and parenting rights
- Gender identification and sex changes
- Criminal law, including victims support
- Civil matters
- Employment matters
- Administrative law matters, including issues in relation to government decisions, Centrelink matters
Due to the capacity of the Service and legal requirements, the service is currently unable to assist in relation to the following matters:
- Immigration and visas
- Building disputes
- Personal injury
- Taxation law
- Commercial law
The LGBTI Legal Service is unable to provide legal representation or support outside evening advice sessions.
